Having spent many years in HR across various industries, stepping into the maritime world was a shift — one that came with new challenges, new perspectives, and new admiration. Maritime is tough. It’s demanding, highly regulated, and often unpredictable. And for a long time, it was a space that few women had access to.
But that’s changing — and it’s one of the most exciting things to witness in this industry.
Over the last few years, I’ve had the privilege of working with women who are truly remarkable. Women who are navigating vessels, managing operations, running logistics, leading teams, and supporting critical functions like finance, safety, HR, and compliance. They are not just participants; they are trailblazers. Many have had to work twice as hard for half the recognition — yet they continue to show up, bring their best, and shift the culture with every step they take.
What makes these women remarkable isn’t just their technical competence — though that is without question. It’s their resilience, their ability to hold their ground with grace, and their refusal to be boxed in by outdated assumptions. They do not just “fit in”; they stand out, and they raise the standard for all of us.
At Linsen Nambi, we believe in respect — not just as a workplace policy, but as a daily practice. We treat every person with dignity, and we are committed to building a culture where no one feels like they have to “earn” the right to belong. Discrimination has no place here — not based on gender, race, age, background, or anything else. We are intentional about inclusion, and we celebrate the richness that diversity brings to our teams, our decision-making, and ultimately, to the success of our business.
It makes me incredibly proud to say that at Linsen Nambi, our workforce reflects this belief. We are made up of people from all walks of life, and every person adds something unique to the whole. We don’t just value diversity — we thrive because of it.
This International Women’s Day, my message is simple: to every woman in maritime — and to those considering joining the industry — you are seen, you are valued, and you are needed. There is space for you. Whether you’re on board or behind a desk, whether you’re just starting out or years into your career — you have every right to be here, and every ability to succeed.
And to all the young girls looking up, wondering if they could do this too — yes, you can. You can go to sea. You can lead. You can innovate. You can be strong, and soft, and bold, and brilliant — all at the same time. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Women are remarkable. We carry so much — at home, at work, in our communities — and still, we rise. We deserve more than just a day of celebration, but today is a good place to start. Let’s honour the women who came before us, support the ones walking beside us, and inspire the ones still finding their path.
Here’s to the women of maritime. Here’s to every woman breaking barriers. And here’s to a future where equality isn’t the exception — it’s the norm.
