The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers Annual Prize-Giving & year-end function was held at the Royal Natal Yacht Club on 15th November with a best-ever turnout of 84.
A healthy mix of Fellows, Members, Guests and students attend where prizes were handed out to the students who achieved the highest marks in their particular subject.
Linsen Nambi’s Managing Director, Durand Naidoo (M.I.C.S.), was the event’s guest of honour and guest speaker. Durand is a previous prize winner and spoke of his journey from university to shipping clerk and to becoming co-owner, with Thuso Mhlambi, of the first black-owned ship-owning company in South Africa.
It was an interesting talk providing motivation to our students on what can be accomplished if you have a dream and stay focused.
